Piano Hands is a fun, Mixed Media Painting, by Ron Whitacre, Laguna Beach artist. A loose rendition of hands and a keyboard, this painting/drawing was done in felt pen and dabbed dry-brush watercolors. Ron Whitacre experimented in this style in the late '90s and created fewer than a dozen works of this type. This original work was part of the artist's estate and is one of only two remaining, unowned examples from this series of musical themed, mixed media drawings, both of which are listed by this seller. Image size - 10 & 1/2 " X 14" Mat size - 16 X 20 Ron Whitacre, Sculptor 1940 – 2022 Ron Whitacre was born in Ohio and studied painting and commercial art at the Dayton Art Institute before moving to Southern California in the mid-1960’s. He soon settled in Laguna Beach where he participated in the Laguna Beach Festival of Arts and the Art-a-Fair. During his career of over 50 years, Ron produced paintings, drawings, jewelry, and sculpture. His concentration on sculpture came from his fascination with three dimensions and a desire to create “real” objects. Ron’s sculptural work mainly depicts the human figure in motion. Created from steel rods welded together, these works are noted for their balance, power, grace, and sensitivity. Ron also produced detailed drawings in both pencil and pen and ink.
