Painted by J A Hulbert, a professional artist who worked from a studio in Darjeeling, India during the 1940s and 50s. He was exhibited in India and may also have had American connections as much of his work appears there" worth point "Born in 1900, Indian artist J.A. Hulbert is well known for his portraits of local folk from Tibet and India. His work is not often seen, partly because Hulbert signed only with initials and that makes his work hard to identify.
