Description
Original pastel painting and/or crayon drawing of a Modernist forest scene with quirky trees and rocks on the ground. Framed, matted and under glass. Not examined out of frame. The glass or the matting (or both) is really dirty. I didn’t want to tamper with it. Card on back inscribed “Charles” and something ending in “field” made me think of Charles Burchfield. I’m calling it ‘School of Charles Burchfield’. Discovered at Brimfield years ago. We found great stuff up there way back when before cell phones came out. Pastel painting and/or crayon drawing presumably on paper. Checked under a jeweler’s loupe - guaranteed to be handmade and not a print. Painting appears unsigned and undated but Mid-century Modern era. Mat opening size: approx. 11 3/8 x 8 1/4 inches. Overall size with frame: approx. 17 3/8 x 14 3/8 inches. Artwork itself looks to be in excellent condition. Shabby shape framing to repair or replace.
