Born in Jamaica, in 1953, Stacey Torres is a contemporary Folk/Fauvist artist living in the Midwest. Known for her paintings of unique fantasy florals and portraits of women, she creates with an abundance of color and media inspired by her Caribbean heritage. Stacey Torres is a self taught artist, and has exhibited her work in galleries and museums nationally, and collected globally. As a 2016 recipient of Indiana Lt. Governor's Hoosier Women Artists Award, Ms. Torres' love of painting began at a very early age. After a 45 year hiatus, while spending time with her mother who was in her final stages of Alzheimer's, she began to paint again for emotional therapy and support. This practice continues today.
