For sale is one of four wonderful original Gladys Emerson Cook (1899-1976) Pastel animal portraits that we are selling here in our eBay Store. Circa 1940 in age. The portrait in this sale features a portrait of a beautiful maltese dog with a blue collar against a blue table setting. Condition: This piece is in overall good condition for age. There are squiggly impression surface lines as if something we leaning against this piece in areas of this painting around the dogs face. We have taken close up pictures of these surface impressions for your consideration. This sale is for the pastel portrait on paper only. The gallery matting will be included in the shipping for free to protect the piece. Measurements Matting - 25" x 21" Paper - 20" x 15 1/4" Gladys Emerson Cook (1899-1976) Gladys Emerson Cook was a 20th century American artist, best known for her drawings of dogs, many of which were used as book illustrations. She also drew advertisements, including cat ads for Carter's Ink and Puss n' Boots products. She also painted and did many original prints, and in her later years, she painted East coast seascapes as well as Gloucester views. Cook studied at the New York Art Student's League with Anthony Thieme and Yarnall Abbott. She exhibited at The National Academy of Design, 1953-1945; NY Public Library, 1942; Library of Congress; National Arts Club, NYC; Society of Illustrators, 1945; Abercrombie and Fitch, NYC and Bronx Zoological Park, 1941.
